Area identity
Treat San Lorenzo + Medici Chapels as a working part of the city: San Lorenzo Market, Basilica di San Lorenzo and Mercato Centrale have different jobs, not equal checklist weight.

How this guide is prepared
Terra Routes makes editorial selections and planning suggestions. Visit order, duration and effort are estimates, not a personal inspection of every place. Check current opening hours, prices, services and access conditions with the venue or operator before your visit.
Route
Read the area before you commit
Best for
Best when you want to connect San Lorenzo Market with Mercato Centrale while keeping one main commitment and one genuine pause.
Main constraint
Plan around Basilica di San Lorenzo. Check access first and leave a buffer for the real crowd pattern: Market-driven peaks.
Role in the day
Use it as a Half day block. Protect the final stop instead of adding another distant pin.
Route
Build the visit in four moves
The order is a planning tool, not a demand to complete everything.
01 · Start here
San Lorenzo Market
Begin with San Lorenzo Market; it gives the clearest orientation before the day becomes crowded.

03 · Reset point
Medici Chapels
Use Medici Chapels to lower the pace. It should absorb delay, hunger or weather rather than create a second deadline.

04 · Finish here
Mercato Centrale
Finish at Mercato Centrale. If energy drops, this is the stop to protect while trimming earlier extras.

Route logic: what works and what does not
Works well
- Fix the one timed or official anchor first.
- Use Medici Chapels as a recovery point, not another major commitment.
- End at Mercato Centrale; do not cross the whole city again.
Avoid this squeeze
- Do not treat all four stops as equal priorities.
- Do not promise yourself quiet during Market-driven peaks.
- Do not ignore Indoor and outdoor mix; it changes the useful order.
